Introduction
Our trip to Galboda Falls was all about fun, adventure, and pure relaxation. My mom’s office friends planned it, and it turned out to be an amazing mix of beautiful views, exciting moments, and peaceful vibes. With first-class train tickets in hand, we hopped on the train, excited for the scenic ride to Galboda Station.
The Scenic Train Ride
As the train arrived at Gampaha station in the early morning around 6am, its gleaming carriages hinted about the day filled with new discoveries. With breakfast in hand, we settled into our seats and the rhythmic sound of the tracks providing a soothing backdrop. The air-conditioned compartment limited our window view, but standing at the door allowed us to witness the unfolding natural beauty.
Walking Along the Tracks
When we arrived at Galboda Station, we couldn’t wait to start our journey to the falls. Walking back along the railway track, we came across a sign pointing us toward Galboda Falls. The path was like something out of a storybook – small streams, winding trails, and vibrant greenery surrounded us at every step. Check out the handwritten path below!
The Galboda Hanging Bridge
Our path brought us to a small, slightly old wire bridge stretching across the early flows of the mighty Mahaweli River. This charming bridge, known as the Galboda Hanging Bridge, had its own rustic vibe. Crossing it carefully added a little thrill to our adventure, right in the middle of the lush jungle.
Arriving to the Galboda Falls:
And then, the big moment came – Galboda Falls revealed its stunning beauty. The waterfall was absolutely breathtaking, its size and power leaving us in awe. There was a special spot to sit and take it all in, offering a peaceful view of the falls. But we had to stay alert – a group of cheeky monkeys kept us on our toes!
Spot for a refreshing dip
Looking for the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip, we explored the area around the falls. We did find a spot nearby, but the slippery rocks and curious monkeys made us think twice. So, we kept looking and eventually found the ideal spot a little further away. The water here was crystal clear, cool, and oh-so-refreshing – just perfect!
We laughed, splashed around, and enjoyed every moment by the falls. It felt like time stopped as the cool water washed away all our tiredness. Every second was pure joy, leaving us feeling refreshed, relaxed, and completely at peace.
Heading Back Home
As the day came to an end, we made our way back to Galboda Station to catch the Ella Odyssey train. Tired but so happy, we managed to hop on just in time. The train ride back was the perfect way to reflect on our unforgettable adventure.
Our visit to Galboda Falls was not just a trip; it was a symphony of nature’s marvels and cherished companionship. The allure of the falls, the thrill of the journey, and the serenity of the surroundings crafted an experience etched in our memories forever. Each step was a testament to the beauty of exploration and the profound connections we forge with nature. Galboda Falls, a jewel nestled in Sri Lanka’s embrace, awaits all who seek its tranquil embrace.
